Ji Yoon

Ji Yoon studied at the Seoul National University with Prof. Hyunjoo Yun and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim with Prof. Stefanie Krahnenfeld graduading in 2013. Since 2016, she is studying Opera with Prof. Snezana Steamenkovic.  Already during her studies, the young soprano was engaged as a guest singer at the Nationaltheater Mannheim. Since 2016-17, she is a member of the Opera studio there. 

Her repertoire includes roles such as Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), Oscar (Un ballo in maschera), Despina (Cosi fan tutte) and Night in Henry Purcell’s ‚Fairy Queen‘, but also Roggiero (Tancredi), Coryphée (Alceste), Brigitta (Jolanthe), Clorinda (La Cenerentola) and Papagena (Die Zauberflöte). In 2017-18 season, she made her highly acclaimed debut as Marzelline in the new production of 'Fidelio'. Another highlight was her interpretation of the Forscherin in the world premiere of 'Vespertine' in May 2018, which is a modern opera piece based on the pop album of the Icelandice singer Björk. Furthermore, she debuted at the Bayreuth Festival 2018 as 1. Blume in 'Parsifal' and as Freia/Waldvogel in the children version of 'Der Ring des Nibelungen'. For 2019, she already has been re-invited to Bayreuth.
