Sayaka Shigeshima completed her vocal studies at the College of Fine Arts and Music in Okinawa in 2005. In September 2007 she started with further studies, first at the Richard Strauss Conservatory an from 2008 at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim. As a soloist, she was heard with 9th symphony of Beethoven in Okinawa in 2005. In the following years, she performed Mahler's Kindertotenlieder and Verdi's Falstaff as part of high school productions and could be heard with the orchestra of the Richard Strauss Conservatory. Her repertoire includes Mrs. Quickly (Falstaff), Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), as well as Olga (Eugene Onegin) to debut in August 2009 in Rheinberg. Appearances at gala evenings followed by 2009 in Berlin and Rheinsberg as Dalila and Carmen.
Since 2012/13 season, Sayaka Shigeshima is member of the ensemble at the German National Theater in Weimar. There, she performes the roles Flora, 3. Dame, Maddalena, Hansel, Mrs. Quickly and Suzuki.
