Iréne Theorin is the shooting star among the dramatic sopranos and a regular guest at all major opera houses. After her debut as Brünnhilde in Copenhagen she toured with this role in Cologne, London, Beijing, Budapest, Berlin and Dresden. In 2009 he sang her U.S. debut in Die Walküre and Siegfried at the Metropolitan Opera as well as in Siegfried and Götterdämmerung in Washington, followed by Tokyo 2010. In the season 2012/13 Iréne Theorin is the Brünnhilde in the Barenboim-RING at the Staatsoper Berlin and La Scala in Milan, at the Wagner Festival in Budapest and will be heard in this role in the RING in Barcelona 2014.
In 2005 she made her debut as Turandot in Copenhagen. Guest performances of Turandot followed in Essen, Tokyo, Tel Aviv (with Zubin Mehta), Guangzhou (with Lorin Maazel), Dresden and London. In 2011 she went back to Copenhagen in that role and made her debut in San Francisco, in 2012-13 followed by the New York Metropolitan Opera, Munich State Opera and in 2014 the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, London again. Iréne Theorin is also one of the most sought Isoldes of our time. In 2006, she sang her first Isolde at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels. Guest performances in Essen, Rotterdam, Copenhagen, Tokyo and Berlin followed. From 2008 to 2012 she was Isolde at the Bayreuth Festival. 2007 and 2008 she sang Elisabetta (Don Carlos), Tosca and Elisabeth (Tannhäuser) in Copenhagen. Her debut as Santuzza followed in 2012. In Tannhäuser she was Venus at the Staatsoper Wien and returns back in this role in 2014. In 2010 she gave her debut at the Salzburg Festival as Elektra (Daniele Gatti), a role she already sang in Stockholm in 2012 with great success. This season, Iréne Theorin returned to Washington for Isolde and then was Elektra in a new production at the Opéra National de Paris. Furthermore she will be singing in Beethovens Symphony No. 9 under Lorin Maazel in Munich, will be singing Turandot in Covent Garden and Brünnhilde in the Walküre in Barcelona.
A DVD recording of the Salzburg production has been released by Arthaus in 2011. Furthermore the Copenhagen RING is an award-winning DVD available at Decca. Iréne Theorin received for her performance of Brünnhilde brilliant reviews.
