Iréne Theorin is the shooting star among the dramatic sopranos and a regular guest at all major opera houses.
After her debut as Brünnhilde in Copenhagen she toured with this role in Cologne, London, Beijing, Budapest, Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden, New York, Washington, Barcelona, Milano and Tokyo. She is Brünnhilde in the new RING at the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona starting in 2014 and is a regular guest as with this role at the Wagner Festival in Budapest. In 2005, the Swedish Soprano made her debut as Turandot in Copenhagen. Guest performances in this role followed in Essen, Tokyo, Tel Aviv, Guangzhou, Dresden, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden London, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, San Francisco, Metropolitan Opera New York, the Bayerische Staatsoper München and Arena di Verona. Iréne Theorin is also one of the most sought after Isolde of our times. In 2006, she sang her first Isolde at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, followed by Essen, Rotterdam, Copenhagen, Toyko, Berlin, Bayreuth Festival, at the Washington National Opera and Vienna State Opera. With her broad repertoire that includes Elisabetta (Don Carlos), Tosca, Santuzza, Elisabeth and Venus (Tannhäuser) she is guesting in the opera houses around the world. In 2010, she gave her debut at the Salzburger Festspiele as Elektra (Daniele Gatti), a role she also sang in Stockholm, Paris (Philippe Jordan), Antwerp (Dmitri Jurowski) and Munich (Asher Fisch) with great success. Plans for the season 2015-16 include the title role of Elektra at the Semperoper in Dresden, her debuts as Dyer’s Wife in Frau ohne Schatten in Copenhagen and Kundry in Parsifal at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Brünnhilde in the Ring at the Staatsoper Berlin, in Barcelona and at the Wagner in Budapest Festival, Concerts in Paris and the Tivoli Festival.
