Anja Kampe
The beautiful German Soprano with the perfect Italian diction is making a huge international career. Her debut as Sieglinde with Plácido Domingo as Siegmund in 2003 in Washington was sensational. Washington Post celebrated this debut as: “A major discovery and an altogether lovely artist. She brought both sweetness and steel to the part: Her voice has bloom, power and agility to spare. Best of all (...) Kampe came off as a vulnerable, fully dimensional and recognizable human figure." In 2004 the artist debuted in Antwerpen as Jenufa, in 2005 as Elsa in Trieste and as Odabella in Attila at the Antiken-Festspiele in Trier (Germany). She had huge success as Senta in the new production of Der Fliegende Holländer in Brussels and debuted with the same part at the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich in 2006, produced by Peter Konwitschny. In the same year her debut as Leonore in Fidelio took place at the Glyndebourne Festival. Further debuts followed: In 2006 she sang for the first time Ariadne at the Teatro Real in Madrid. In 2007 Anja Kampe made her Japan-debut in Tokyo with Senta at the New National Theatre, she sang Sieglinde once again next to Placido Domingo in Washington and made her sucessful Los Angeles debut as Leonore in Fidelio. She could also be heard in Washington as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, conducted by Plácido Domingo. In 2008 she was Lisa in Pique Dame at the Frankfurt Opera, Leonore (Fidelio) on a European Tour with Claudio Abbado and in Straßbourg and sang in Il Tabarro in Los Angeles. 2009 she could be heard as Ariadne at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Sieglinde in a new production of Walküre at L.A. Opera, Senta in a new production of Der Fliegende Holländer at the Royal Opera House in London. She is Senta in Munich and Madrid. In 2009 she made her highly acclaimed debut as Isolde at Glyndebourne Festival. 2010 she sings a new poduction of Franz Schreker`s Die Gezeichneten at Los Angeles Opera, Elisabeth (Tannhäuser) at the Wiener Staatsoper and Fidelio in Munich. |
