Kirsten Blanck

The press has praised her performance in the role of Sieglinde in the RING in Cologne as being so intense that the audience got "goose pimples". This relates to her musical performance and above all to her intensive acting. Her soprano has developed excellently during the last years and is blooming in a wonderful way in its magnificent heights, based on a safe foundation in its depth and medium vocal level. Since the 2001/2002 season Kirsten Blanck changed from the dramatic coloratura to the youthful-dramatic soprano genre. In 2004/2005 she sang Leonore in Fidelio in the new production in Dortmund and  Bielefeld. In Dortmund she took over the parts of Freia in Rheingold and Sieglinde in Die Walküre. At the Oper Köln she had guest performances as Sieglinde and as Elsa (debut in 2006). Kirsten Blanck gave her successful debut as Elisabeth in Tannhäuser in Erfurt in 2007. In 2008 she could be heard as Kaiserin in Die Frau ohne Schatten in Karlsruhe, as Leonore in Fidelio in Essen, Cologne and Bremen as well as Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus in Cologne. In 2008 she made her debut as Senta in Bremen and sang Open Air performances of Der fliegende Holländer in Braunschweig. As a concert performer she sang Richard Strauss` Four Last Songs with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Vassily Sinaisky in February 2008. Kirsten Blanck made her Turandot debut at the English National Opera in fall 2009 with great success: "I was immensely impressed with the vocal qualities of Kirsten Blanck as Turandot. She has a clear, focused, dramatic soprano sound and is rock steady in the middle of every note: no gratuitous vibrato but a steely tone and huge reserves of power for the big moments. (…) the attractive Blanck could easily have been dressed in a chic and elegant white evening gown."  Mike Reynolds (Musical Criticism.com). She gave an important role debut as Ariadne in Gera, in 2010 and was Senta in Cagliari. In 2010 Ms Blanck will give her debut as Renata in The fiery Angel in Weimar.
