Birgit Beckherrn
A brilliant shimmering height and a big temper on stage are the brand marks of the artist. She showed it with her debuts as Kundry in Parsifal at the Staatstheater Saarbrücken and as Montezuma in The Conquest of Mexico at the same theater. Engagements lead her to Lyon, Luxemburg, Kiel, Görlitz, Münster, to the Residenztheater Munic, the Thalia-Theater as well as the Deutsche Schauspielhaus. She initially worked her way into lyrical repertoire which was followed by young dramatic parts like: Micaela, Marie in Verkaufte Braut), Kleopatra in Julius Caesar, Agathe, Eva in Paradise lost, Mimi, Tatjana, Helmwige in Walküre and the 3. Norn in Götterdämmerung. With the two parts last mentioned, she gave guest performances in Toronto in 2005 and 2006 and debuted as Sieglinde in Die Walküre with the Staatstheater Karlsruhe on tour in Cagliary. Birgit Beckherrn moved back for a while because of privat reasons and is now working on a successful comeback, which started in 2012 with her highly noticed Kundry and as Montezuma in "Die Eroberung von Mexiko" at the Saarländisches Staatstheater in Saarbrücken. |
